Teluk Tempoyak : ウィキペディア英語版 | Teluk Tempoyak Teluk Tempoyak is a small coastal village in Penang, Malaysia. It is located within Batu Maung town at the southeastern region of Penang Island. The population is approximately 400–500 people, with the majority being Malay and the rest Chinese. Most of the residents here work as fisherman and some operate seafood stalls at the food court which is famous for their smoked fish. There is a chalet here that was built on water. It also has a seafood restaurant. A quarry is also operating at the end of the village for the last few decades producing construction aggregate. In the last 10-15 years ago, there were about 4-5 traditional shrimp paste or ''belacan'' maker in Teluk Tempoyak. Nowadays, only half remains as the new generation lack of interest in taking over the industry. The supply of raw shrimp also decreasing due to pollution from the nearby industrial area in Bayan Lepas. The Penang Second Bridge will be the main view of the horizon from this village after its completion. The property developers already prying this village for various development. A part of Batu Maung town that neighboring Teluk Tempoyak already in development known as (Southbay ). Sooner or later this village will only become a piece of history. A precedence has happened to Batu Uban village near the Penang Bridge.
